It’s February 2018. We’re sitting in a hotel at Aomori Spring Ski Resort in Japan, with some elite company from the snow sports world. And we’re watching the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics in Korea.
Over the past two weeks we’ve had the pleasure of shooting with some of the world’s top professional snowboarders like Louie Vito, Enni Rukajärvi and Silvia Mittermulla. Then the USA Halfpipe Ski Team arrived in town and things got real!
As the majority of the US team had been to the previous Winter Olympics, they decided to skip out on the ceremony and take a bit of well-deserved “wellness” time to ski pow in Japan. The 22ft Olympic standard pipe at Aomori Spring was really just a bonus.
We were fortunate enough to shoot both stills and video with them, all whilst working for Aomori Spring Ski Resort on a two-week media contract.
