Queenstown-based, specialist travel agency xtravel approached us to create a new site for them, with the goal of showcasing their exceptional destinations through the power of impactful imagery.

With their current website being built on WordPress already, we were able to utilise their current media and blog post database, but completely re-shape the architecture and design of the site.

Alongside the use of large, powerful images, our primary focus was to clean up the user experience of the site by making it more navigable for specific users and creating copy that is easy to digest.

To accompany their new web site, we also devised a new content strategy for their team to follow when writing new blog posts and marketing on social media.

Completed: November 2018

Drowning Prevention Auckland originally approached us to create an e-learning platform to help them educate people around water safety and drowning prevention. This quickly escalated into a week-long video and 360° video shoot and a website redesign project.

The full project took six months in total, from initial planning right through to the launch at their AGM. It resulted in a 7-part educational video series, with aerial and underwater angles, and a simple yet effective e-learning platform, integrated with their website and user database. View one of the videos here.

The interactive 360° video is featured within the e-learning but is also used independently as an educational tool on the courses they deliver in person. The Oculus Go VR headsets make this delivery highly impactful.

Completed: October 2018

With a vested interest in the non-profit organisation SBINZ (the snowboard arm of the New Zealand Snowsports Instructors Alliance), the team here at 360nz were extremely passionate about this video series.

The goal of the 6-part series was to present and discuss a different teaching methodology or concept, from the perspective of the presenter, giving the viewer a deeper understanding of the content that is found in the Snowboard Instructor’s Manual.

Each video has a different presenter; all being current Examiners and members of the SBINZ Technical Team. The videos will also to be used within their E-Learning platform that we previously helped to build.

As a business that is continually pushing marketing innovation within the NZ ski industry, Cardrona was the ideal client for us to work with when testing the potential of the new Oculus Go VR Headsets.

During the 2017 winter season we shot a “general mountain” 360 degree video edit, with the goal of engaging on offline audience at the Australian snow expo events pre-winter 2018. The video was to showcase the wide open trails and general feel of the mountain in less than 2 minutes.

About Cardrona Alpine Resort

Found in between Queenstown and Wanaka, Cardrona is known for its genuine family-friendly atmosphere, wide groomed runs, perfectly-shaped parks and pipes. Most reputed for its friendly and genuine vibe, Cardrona is widely considered the most suitable mountain in the Southern Lakes for families and beginners. Here, beginners will find amazing terrain to learn to ski or snowboard on, and intermediates will find themselves easily progressing to the next level.

“360° video content has been on our radar for a while now and with their experience, 360nz were the obvious solution when it came to producing a piece of content to showcase the resort at trade events and online. The team at 360nz were outstanding, effectively interpreting our brief and flexible enough to work with us around variable mountain weather conditions as we searched for the ‘perfect’ shot.

Over and above the content creation, 360nz were able to supply the new Oculus Go VR headsets for our most recent event, allowing us to transport guests to the resort from an expo in Australia and allowing us to sell the destination far greater than what’s possible with traditional media.

360 content has been a step change for us in destination/activity marketing and we look forward to working with the team on more upcoming projects.”

Aomori Spring Media Shoot 2018

Client: Aomori Spring Ski Resort, Japan

Z

Completed: February 2018

As part of an on-going relationship with Aomori Spring in Japan, we spent the first two weeks of February 2018 on a contracted shoot at the resort, working with numerous professional freeskiers and snowboarders.

With the 2018 Winter Olympics being within one short flight from Aomori Airport, a number of teams chose Aomori Spring as their pre-Olympic “wellness” camp location. This included the Finnish and German Snowboard Teams, the US Freeski Halfpipe Team and a few other American athletes like Louie Vito and Chloe Kim.

With so much talent riding at the resort at the same time, Aomori Spring’s management chose to enlist our services to shoot on-spec action photography and videography with the available athletes. We also shot portraits of every visiting athlete to be printed and hung in the lobby at the Rockwood Hotel.

The majority of digitally published content was used throughout both the resort’s and athlete’s social media streams, with a big focus on Instagram. As a result, most of the produced edits were less than one minute in length, with the exception of the video below.

GFORCE Paragliding Web, Video & 360 Degree Video

Client: GFORCE Paragliding in Queenstown

Z

Completed: December 2017

The GFORCE team approached us initially to shoot an in-flight 360° video, with the goal of providing potential customers and booking agents with the closest thing to a Queenstown paragliding experience (before they book and actually experience the flight first-hand). After a number of meetings it became clear that GFORCE’s needs were more substantial; the project scope widened with the addition of a new website and a new promotional video.

The promo video was to be used as a 30 second teaser in booking offices around Queenstown, as well as online mediums. The website required a full re-design, a multi-lingual platform, a very specific operating status widget, and a change in hosting. We combined these two new media assets by creating a web background version of the promo video, placed on their new homepage.

The completed project is an easy-to-navigate website, with the promo video at the forefront, the 360 degree video included and 4 different language options (French, German, Mandarin and English). Check out the 360 video and promo video below…

About GFORCE Paragliding

Take off from the top of the Skyline Gondola and enjoy the ultimate flight with spectacular views of Lake Wakatipu, the mountains, forests and Queenstown itself. GFORCE is the most experienced paragliding company in New Zealand – they’ve been tandem paragliding over Queenstown since 1991!

“360 degree video had us intrigued before we even began working with the guys at 360 New Zealand. We understood the benefits of 360 video and took the opportunity to significantly reshape and future proof our online presence. What we didn’t expect was for the team at 360nz to be able to deliver so much, in such an efficient and cost-effective project.

The guys at 360nz are genuine, effective and very easy to work with. They took on feedback continuously, explained things in simple terms but always gave the “why” when backing up their points. The full project was completed on-time and within budget, and it exceeded our expectations substantially.

Overall, we’re extremely happy with all three new assets, the website, the promo video and the 360 video. The GForce team have been blown away by the quality of delivery and feel that it has been money extremely well spent. We’re now planning to create a longer promotional video with 360nz later on in the summer.”

Completed: November 2017

As the pilot episode for this brand new 360 degree video series, The Old Ghost Road multi-day mountain trail was the ideal location to shoot.

With the help of The Old Ghost Road Trails Trust, we took a team of 4 across the 3-day backcountry mountain bike adventure. The shoot involved multiple 360 degree mounts, designed and made by our team, wireless mic audio, and aerial 360 footage for both the opening and closing shots.

The ride itself was challenging and not for the faint-hearted. Our team thrived working in the arduous environment and the finished piece is a pinnacle media asset that The Old Ghost Road Trails Trust will use for many years to come.

Within the first month of release, this “3 mins in 360” video had a reach of 85k with 9.5k full views and over 90 shares on Facebook.
